Are the Event Zones fully accessible?

We will be doing everything possible to make all Event Zones accessible for those with restricted mobility.

Is the event suitable for children?

Absolutely! There will be lots to do for all ages; we have a number of children’s fun fair rides, huge observation wheel with fantastic views and fun sporting activities that may include Swing ball, hula hoops, tug of war and Connect 4 all held between 4pm until 7pm on every day of the event at the Multi Use Games Area at Zone C. Remember there will be a lot of people at the event, so make sure that you keep a close eye on little ones to avoid becoming separated.

Children’s wristbands will be available from all Information Points to record your contact details in the case of your child going missing.

What else is there to see and do?

All Event Zones will offer a broad range of entertainment for all ages. The stages at St Peters (Event Zone C) and Town Moor (Event Zone B) will be filled with local acts, and the city will take the opportunity to showcase its heritage and cultural offers. There will be fireworks on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 9.30pm from the Port area and as part of the Friday evening spectacular performance at the Wearmouth Bridge, which will be in clear view for visitors on both sides of the river.

Is there somewhere to eat?

Yes, there will be food and drinks available to buy at all Event Zones. We would also encourage visitors to explore the city to discover its fantastic cafes, restaurants and bars. Check out the See It Do It website for more details http://www.seeitdoitsunderland.co.uk

Will there be picnic areas available if I want to bring my own food and drinks?

Yes there will be picnic seating available at Event Zone B and grassed areas at Event Zones C and D.

Can I bring alcohol?

Yes you can bring your own alcohol to the Event Zones, alcohol will also be available to purchase at concessions across all Event Zones. Please note this is a family event so please drink responsibly.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs will not be allowed into Event Zone A, however assistance dogs will be allowed access into that zone. Well-behaved dogs will have access to all other Event Zones. Please keep all dogs on leads. Fresh drinking water will be available at all Information Points and at National Glass Centre.

Will there be toilets available in each Event Zone?

Yes, toilet facilities will be available on every Event Zone including accessible toilets and baby change facilities. Locations of toilets will be clearly marked on the Event Zone Maps.

Will there be Changing Places facilities available?

There will be Changing Places facilities providing extra equipment and space for those that need it:

24 hour access to a Changing Places facility, access is with a RADAR key and a key code

Will there be a sign language interpretation service at the event?

Yes, a British Sign Language Interpreter can be found at the Information Point within Event Zone A.

Will there be First Aid in each Event Zone?

Yes, there will be First Aid points located on all Event Zones and location details can be found on large maps within each Event Zone, in the free visitor map, in the Souvenir Event Guide and online at www.tallshipssunderland.com The First Aid points will be clearly marked.

What should I do if I lose a member of my family or friends?

Should you lose a member of your group please contact the nearest Event Steward, Volunteer (wearing lime green) or member of Event Staff (wearing red) who will be clearly identifiable with their designation written on their uniform and holding official event identification. Lost Person Points can be found on large maps within each Event Zone, in the free visitor map, in the souvenir event guide and online at www.tallshipssunderland.com The Lost Person Points will be clearly marked.

Will there be security at the event?

Yes there will be security in all Event Zones throughout the event. Please note random bag searches will be in operation.

Is there any event merchandise available to purchase?

Yes, merchandise will be available to buy at the official merchandise outlets located across the Event Zones and will be available to purchase online www.tallshipssunderland.com

Is there a cash point within the Event Zones?

Yes a cash point will be located in Event Zones A and C, these are clearly identified within event literature and on the large Event Zone maps. Numerous cash points can also be found in Sunderland City Centre.
